Aim: The module is designed to provide advanced insight into GIS and its applications. Emphasis is on understanding through an analytical modeling approach to spatial problems.
Content: Analytical modeling, techniques for spatial modeling, Statistical analysis and interpretation of geographic data, spatial database design and manipulation, Error assessment and management, GIS project design and management, Environmental GIS applications.
Practicals: GIS applications
for environmental science.
Assessment:
The module will primarily be assessed by the Final Theory exam (accounting for 50% of the total mark) and practical test (accounting for 20% of the total mark), which will be held after we finish the module. The remaining 30% of the total mark is a formative assessment that includes Seminars (15%) and practical reports (15%).
