Module Aim: To provide understanding of pedological and chemical processes which occur in the soil environment.
Content: Weathering & humification processes, movement of materials in soil and cross landscapes, soil and soil archeology, theories of soil formation, soil micromorphology. Soil solution and colloidal chemistry, electrical double layer theory, mineral stability, ion exchange, redox equilibria, organic interactions with soil surfaces. Application in agriculture and environmental protection.
Module consists of two sections:
Section 1: Pedology (12 February - 28 March)
Section 2: Chemistry (8 April - 22 May)
