This module will introduce formal languages, computability, computation theory and algorithm complexity. The content explored includes formal, regular, non-regular, and context-free languages. Computability and complexity theory: Includes (but is not limited to) Turing machines, the Universal Turing machine, Church-Turing thesis, decidability, complexity classes P and NP.

This module will serve to introduce the advanced programming techniques necessary for the development of large, complex software projects. In the real-world commercial environment, software development projects require developers to work as part of a team, and thus a further objective of this course is to develop the skills required to work collaboratively on large software projects. The course is intended to be both a hands-on practical and to expose students to advanced programming techniques using C++.
