This module will prepare student teachers to meet the challenges of teaching and developing their own

knowledge and understanding of English by:

·       Providing opportunities for improving command (both written and oral) of the English language

·       Exploring issues of gender, sexuality, religion, race and class in selected works of media and literature

·       Developing critical awareness and skills appropriate to media study

·       Developing critical thinking and insight into, and aesthetic appreciation of selected works of media and literature

·       Providing further insights into and engagement with critical and literary theories and research surrounding English education
