This is a second-year BEd module offered in Life Orientation Education.

This 16credit module aims to investigate various theories and approaches in the field of ethics, looking at the implications for society in general and more specifically in the education arena, focusing on moral education.

Content will include:

Ø An introduction to the study of ethics looking briefly at some of the following: meta ethics, normative ethics, applied ethics, human rights issues (looking at issues including religious diversity)

Ø An investigation of applied ethics in some of the following contexts:  euthanasia, transplantation, human cloning, environmental ethics, and others

Ø Ethics in education and more specifically moral education
