Welcome to FIAR 103 popularly known as 1st year ceramics. Kingery, Bowen and Uhlmann (1976: p, 5) define the ceramics as the art and science of making and using solid particles which consist primarily of non-metal materials. A more simper definition of ceramics is me asking you to think of it as the art of using clay and its related materials to creates products which are utilitarian and functional - nuances on what is considered utilitarian or functional will be unpacked with each project as the module unfolds).
