The evolution in Information Technology following the development of microprocessor, microchip and internet protocols has laid the foundation for rapid advances in hardware and software applications. New technologies and innovations are emerging at an unprecedented rate, making it difficult for individuals and businesses to catch up with the innovative trends. Many forward-looking organizations have often times aligned their strategic goals with current and future technology trends and innovations to ensure they remain highly competitive and stay ahead of their peers in the industry. Organizations value the hiring of personnel abreast with current trends and skills in Information Systems and Technology. Some of the technology innovations have come as disruptors and sometimes forcing traditional industries completely out of business, and making firms to rethink their tactical and operational strategies. The module, Management of Current Trends in IT, lays a foundation for an in-depth understanding of current and future trends in IT. The module will focus on nine major trends; Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, Robotics, Big Data/Data Analytics, Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, and Grid Computing.
